Access To Public Transportation System Enhanced By Plastic Card Issued To Special Status Passengers

Customer:

The Compagnie de TransPort de l'Agglomeration de Valence (CTAV), France; a municipal bus public TransPortation system.

Challenge:

Valence CTAV sought to produce plastic cards that would enable special status users of public TransPortation to gain quick and easy access to the system, as well as to gain loyalty among the users.

Product:

Eltron's P300F (monochrome) and P300C; 300F (monochrome), with variable thickness feeder. P300 Series printers come standard with Windows™ drivers and WindCard™ software. Their surprisingly small footprint and easy-loading, minimal maintenance design make desktop operation simple and efficient. They print sharp, readable bar codes, graphics and text in less than five seconds. Optional features include magnetic stripe and Smart chip encoding.

All P Series on-demand plastic card printers offer sharp 300 dpi print resolution. Durable design features give you full color value or monochrome economy, and assure the portability necessary for on-demand personal identification card printing.

Use P300 printers to print:

  • Membership cards
  • Visitor and employee badges
  • Identification and access control cards
  • Student identification cards

Result:

The special status users such as students, the disabled and elderly, obtain their cards printed at convenient locations free or for a nominal charge. The cards bear a photo and expiration date. When card-holders board a vehicle, card readers check status of the pass and an operator can visually identify the user by the photo on the card.

The net effect for Valence CTAV in implementing this card system is that users who need assistance gain access to the Transport system quickly and without any special procedures. Lines of waiting passengers are reduced during peak periods. And not in the least, the program has gained overwhelming approval and loyalty from Valence's citizenry.
